Fire at Regent Plaza Hotel left 11 people dead
Karachi: Around 70 injured, including 3 foreigners, 3 doctors and 4 women dead total 11 causalities reported after fire erupted in Karachi’s Regent Plaza Hotel. The Hotel is located near Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center at Shahra-e-Faisal.
It is also reported that national cricket team has been also effected by fire. International player Sohaib Maqsood among effected cricketers.
Cricketer Jasim Murtaza got fractured his leg while he jumped from 2nd story of hotel. All those players were there to take part in Quid-e-Azam Trophy.
Mostly People Died due to Smoke Inhaling.
The rescue teams and hospital resources confirmed death of
total 11 persons. Most of these victims died due to inhaling massive amount of smoke. It is also come to know that hotel Regent did not have safety exit and alarm system. The fire broke out at the sixth floor of hotel. Hotel front desk man is also among dead persons.
This massive fire erupt early Monday, and most of guests staying in hotel were sleeping at that time. Karachi mayor Waseem Akhter said to reporters that the cause of fire could not immediately find out.
An exclusive TV footage of incident showed people were using bed sheets to climb down from hotel windows. A person standing at balcony was waving his hand for help, but hotel management has nothing to approach him.
